When Is Ramadan 2027? Expected Dates for the US, UK, Canada and Australia
Ramadan 2027 is expected to begin on Monday 8 February 2027, with the first taraweeh on the evening of Sunday 7 February, and to end with Eid al-Fitr on Tuesday 9 or Wednesday 10 March.
The short answer
Ramadan 2027 is expected to begin on Monday 8 February 2027, which puts the first taraweeh on the evening of Sunday 7 February. All dates on this page are expected, subject to moon sighting: nothing is final until your mosque or national council announces it.
The start is unusually clear in 2027. The Fiqh Council of North America’s published calendar, the UK’s moon-sighting predictions and Saudi Arabia’s Umm al-Qura calendar all give the same Monday. The end may split: Eid al-Fitr is expected on Tuesday 9 or Wednesday 10 March 2027.
Last year, Ramadan 2026 began on Wednesday 18 or Thursday 19 February 2026, depending on community.

What are the expected dates for Ramadan 2027?
Ramadan 1448 is expected to run from Monday 8 February to Monday 8 or Tuesday 9 March 2027, so 29 or 30 days in all. An Islamic day begins at sunset, so each night of Ramadan starts on the evening before its date. That is why taraweeh begins on the Sunday.

If your community announces a later start, shift each of these dates one day later. For 2027 that is unlikely anywhere in the four countries.

When does Ramadan 2027 start in the US, UK, Canada and Australia?
Monday 8 February 2027 is the expected first fast in all four countries. The bodies that set the date differ, and in October 2026 only one of them had published anything.

United States and Canada
The Fiqh Council of North America (FCNA) sets months by calculation, and its calendar, used by ISNA and followed by ISNA Canada in 2026, already lists Monday 8 February 2027 as 1 Ramadan. Groups that wait for a local sighting, such as the Hilal Council of Canada, announce on the night itself. In 2026 they began a day after FCNA, so it is worth knowing which your mosque follows.
United Kingdom
UK mosques often split by a day. Some follow a local sighting, decided by Wifaqul Ulama with the Batley Moon Sighting Committee; others follow Saudi Arabia. For Ramadan 2027 both routes point the same way: ICOUK (Moon Sighting UK) says the crescent will be visible on Sunday 7 February and the month is most likely to start on Monday 8 February.
Australia
The Australian National Imams Council (ANIC) has announced nothing for 2027 yet. Its stated method is mainly calculation: if the new moon is born after sunset, the month cannot begin that evening, and it looks at how long after sunset the moon sets in cities such as Sydney and Perth. Monday 8 February is the most likely Australian start, and Islamic Relief Australia’s calendar lists it, but wait for ANIC’s statement. In 2025 some communities began a day after ANIC.
The last ten nights
When is Laylat al-Qadr 2027?
Laylat al-Qadr, often written Laylatul Qadr, has no single fixed date. If Ramadan begins on Monday 8 February, the last ten nights begin at sunset on Saturday 27 February 2027 and the 27th night begins at sunset on Friday 5 March. Many Muslims look for it in the odd nights of the last ten, and the 27th is the night most widely marked.

Some calendars print 6 March beside the 27th night. That is the date of 27 Ramadan itself; the night comes first, on the Friday evening. If a community starts Ramadan a day later, each of these nights moves one evening later too.
The moon in February 2027
Why is the start of Ramadan 2027 so predictable?
Because the new moon falls late on Saturday 6 February, calculation and sighting land on the same Monday. The US Naval Observatory puts it at 15:56 UT, after sunset in Makkah, so no crescent can be seen there that evening and Sha’ban runs to 30 days in the Umm al-Qura count.
Eid is a different story. The new moon before Shawwal comes at 09:29 UT on Monday 8 March, which leaves a very young crescent that evening, and the methods can give different answers. So this page offers one Ramadan date but two possible Eid dates. Our Islamic calendar 2027 sets out every month of the year in the same way.
How and when will Ramadan 2027 be confirmed?
Most announcements come on the evening of 29 Sha’ban, which falls on Saturday 6 or Sunday 7 February depending on when a community began the month. FCNA is the exception, because its date is already published.

FCNA’s calculated calendar gives Monday 8 February. ISNA and ISNA Canada used the same calendar in 2026.
Saturday 6 February, evening
Saudi Arabia looks for the crescent on its 29 Sha’ban. With the new moon after sunset in Makkah, Sha’ban is expected to complete 30 days there.
Sunday 7 February, evening
If UK Sha’ban begins on 10 January, as ICOUK predicts, this is the UK’s 29th, and the crescent is expected to be visible. Local-sighting groups in North America announce on their own 29th.

Start regular lessons in January, so your child is settled with a teacher before the first fast on 8 February. The first weeks are for finding the level and a routine, which is easier in January than in the middle of Ramadan.

Pakistan is UTC+5 all year. None of the four countries changes its clocks during Ramadan 2027; the US and Canada move forward on 14 March, after Eid.
