Description
The Tafseer Curriculum has 3 levels:
- The Foundation level: the meaning of the verses, basic Arabic grammar and Shaan-e-Nuzool for short Surahs.
- The Intermediate level: Rabt between Surahs, the Ahkaam of The Quran and their application in daily life.
- The Advanced level: Ilmul Balagah, Usul Tafseer, the role of Hadith and the Qiraat.
- Every level is taught 1-to-1, so the pace follows the student rather than a class.
Prerequisites
Requirements differ based on the age of the student and how much he/she already knows. For all levels, the student should be able to read from the Qur’an and follow the tutor in English, Arabic, Urdu, Hindi or Pushto.
Foundation Level Prerequisites: Open to children aged 7 and above and to adults beginning their Tafseer journey. No previous Tafseer study is required.
Intermediate Level Prerequisites:
Completion of Level 1, or an existing foundational understanding of The Quran and its basic vocabulary.
Advanced Level Prerequisites:
Suited to advanced learners and students of Islamic studies. To be eligible, a student should be comfortable with:
- Reading The Quran fluently with Tajweed.
- The meanings of common Quranic vocabulary.
- The material covered in the Intermediate level.
Not sure where you fit? Your free trial class doubles as a level check — the tutor will talk through your background and recommend a starting level.

FAQ
Commonly Asked Questions About Our Online Quran Academy
Check out our FAQs to learn more about how our Online Quran Academy works, from when classes happen to how you pay.
What is Tafseer, and how is it different from translation?
A translation tells you what a verse says. Tafseer explains why it was revealed, what it meant to its first audience, how it connects to the rest of The Quran, and what it asks of you today.
Do I need to know Arabic to start?
No. Level 1 introduces only as much Arabic grammar as you need to follow the meaning, and tutors teach in English, Arabic, Urdu, Hindi and Pushto.
Do you have female teachers?
Yes, we have both men and women teachers for students who prefer a female tutor. Our female teachers are experts in Quran and Islamic studies.

We’ll give you login details for our app, where you can watch your child’s classes live. You can also watch recordings of past classes.
