The curriculum, in short

Children start with our own OQLS Qaida, then read the Quran, and Islamic studies grows with them alongside.

  • Qaida: 17 lessons, from the first letter to the signs in the Quran.
  • Quran: reading, then Tajweed, and on to Hifz or translation.
  • Islamic studies: a beginners’ syllabus, then four levels, with Seerah, Salah, Kalimas and Hadith.

Learning both? Quran and Islamic studies can share the same class, with the same teacher, or your child can take just one.

Curriculum questions

Can my child learn Quran and Islamic studies in the same class?

Your child can learn Quran and Islamic studies together in the same 30-minute class, or take just one subject. You choose, and the teacher shapes each lesson around your child.

What does my child learn first?

Beginners start with our OQLS Qaida: the Arabic letters and their sounds, then joining letters, vowels and the first Tajweed rules, over 17 lessons. Then they read the Quran itself.

Is the OQLS Qaida different from a normal Noorani Qaida?

It teaches the same steps, in a colourful book made for children by Online Quran Learnings. It comes with and without English transliteration and has pictures that show where each letter is said from.

What is in Islamic studies?

Four levels that grow with your child: belief, wudu and salah, duas, manners, the pillars of Islam, the stories of the prophets and the life of the Prophet ﷺ, plus Seerah, the Kalimas and short hadith.

Do we have to buy the books?

No. The teacher shares the pages on screen in every class.

Can my child skip parts they already know?

Yes. The teacher checks your child’s level in the first class and starts them at the right lesson.
