The short answer

Islamic homeschool Quran classes at Online Quran Learnings are live, one-to-one lessons in Quran and Islamic studies that fit inside your homeschool week. Your child has a 30-minute lesson with their own teacher, one to five times a week, at any hour of the day, so you can book a 10 am lesson as well as an evening one.

We are a part-time Quran and Islamic studies provider, not an accredited school. We do not issue transcripts, grades or certificates, and we do not teach maths, English or science. Every child is tested at the end of each month, and the monthly progress report is based on that test. Fees start at $30 a month, and the free trial of up to 3 days needs no card.

Is it a fit?

Who are these homeschool Quran classes for?

Muslim families who teach at home and want a live teacher for their child’s Quran and Islamic studies. Whether you call it homeschooling, home schooling or home education, the lessons are the same.

You teach the main subjects yourself

You plan the maths, English and science. You want Quran and Islamic studies taught by a teacher, one-to-one.

You need daytime hours

A local madrasah or weekend school often runs at fixed times. Our classes run 24/7 in your own time zone, so a lesson can sit in the middle of your school morning.

Your child learns best one-to-one

One teacher hears your child read and corrects them as they read, at your child’s own level.

You want to see progress

A test every month, a report based on it, and every lesson recorded. You can join any class too.

Families come to us from the USA, the UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and the UAE. See our pages for the USA, the UK, Canada and Australia.

Around your plan

What does a homeschool week with Quran lessons look like?

You choose one to five 30-minute lessons a week and the hour of each one. Classes run 24/7 in your own time zone, so a lesson can sit in the middle of your school morning and the rest of your day stays yours. One lesson a week is a gentle start for the youngest children or a busy term. Five a week is the pace we suggest for Hifz.

Quran and Islamic studies

What is the Quran and Islamic studies curriculum for homeschoolers?

It is the Quran and Islamic studies part of a Muslim homeschool curriculum, taught live: set books, set levels and one teacher. It does not cover maths, English or science. The teacher starts where your child is, not where their age says.

The Quran, stage by stage

The Quran lessons, from the first letters to Hifz
  1. Noorani QaidaFrom age 4, with our own Qaida book: 17 lessons in 205 colourful pages.
  2. Reading the QuranFrom the first surahs to reading a page on their own, corrected as they read.
  3. TajweedThe rules applied as your child reads, so recitation is correct, not just fluent.
  4. Hifz, if you chooseMemorising the Quran with sabaq, sabqi and manzil, with a hafiz or hafiza, for fluent readers.

Each stage has its own page: Noorani Qaida, Quran classes for kids, Quran with Tajweed and the online Hifz program. Not sure where your child starts? Try the Quran level test, or let the teacher find their level in the free trial.

Islamic studies, level by level

Islamic studies runs in four levels from about age 5, taken from the Islamic Studies Grade 1 to 4 books we teach from. Four-year-olds learn duas, the basics and stories, and older children go deeper.

Quran, Islamic studies, or both

Your child can learn Quran and Islamic studies together in the same 30-minute class, or take just one subject. You choose, and the teacher shapes each lesson around your child.

You do not need to buy any books: the teacher shares the pages on screen in every class. Free books to read at home are on our books page. Online Islamic studies for homeschoolers in full: online Islamic school for kids.

What you can see

How do I track progress and keep records for our homeschool?

Every child is tested at the end of each month, and the monthly progress report is based on that test. The report shows the topics covered and what to practise at home.

Who is in the lesson

Who teaches, and who else is in the class?

A teacher of your choice, male or female, checked before they teach. Our teachers are mostly based in Egypt, the UAE, India and Pakistan. We check every teacher’s ID and certificates before they teach, and a female supervisor joins every class.

  • A female supervisor joins every lesson live and listens to the whole class
  • Parents can sit in on any lesson without telling us first
  • Every lesson is recorded; parents can watch their child’s recordings
  • Teachers never message a child outside the lesson; every message goes through our team to you
  • If a teacher is not the right fit, we change them; you do not have to explain why
  • The fee is the same for a male or a female teacher

Every teacher has their ID and Quran and Tajweed certificates checked, an interview and a demo class our team watches, and training before a first student. Every Hifz teacher is a hafiz or hafiza: they have memorised the whole Quran themselves. The full rules are on our child safety page.

Choosing honestly

How is this different from a full-time online Islamic school or a weekend school?

A full-time school gives you grades and a timetable. We give you one-to-one lessons you can place anywhere in your week. Pick the one that matches what you need.

One-to-one lessons or a full-time online Islamic school

Online Quran Learnings (part-time, one-to-one)

  • You keep your own homeschool plan and add Quran and Islamic studies to it
  • One teacher and your child, 30 minutes, at any hour you choose
  • One to five lessons a week, paid monthly
  • A monthly test and report; no grades, transcripts or certificates

A full-time online Islamic school

  • Usually covers every subject, not only Islamic studies
  • Usually gives grades and a transcript
  • A fixed timetable that the school sets
  • Accreditation matters more here

If you want one school for every subject, with grades, choose a full-time school. If you already teach the other subjects and want live Quran and Islamic studies, one-to-one lessons fit better.

One-to-one lessons or a weekend Islamic school

Online Quran Learnings (at home, one-to-one)

  • Any day and any hour, weekdays included
  • Your child has the teacher’s full attention for 30 minutes
  • No travel; a female supervisor in every class and parents can watch
  • Quran and Islamic studies in one class, or one subject

A weekend Islamic school

  • Usually one fixed day and time a week
  • Classmates and a community in person
  • Usually a group class, so less time for each child
  • You travel there and back

A weekend school gives your child friends and a community. One-to-one lessons give a daytime slot and the teacher’s full attention. You can use both.

Can we do Quran classes during the school day?

Yes. Classes run 24/7 in your own time zone, so you can book a lesson at 10 am or any other hour. You agree the lesson times with us on WhatsApp.

Is this an accredited Islamic school?

No. We are a part-time Quran and Islamic studies provider, not an accredited school. We fit into your homeschool week and do not replace maths, English, science or the rest of your plan. See is an online Islamic school accredited?

Do you give grades or certificates for our homeschool records?

No. We do not issue grades, transcripts or certificates. Every child is tested at the end of each month and the monthly progress report is based on that test, and you can keep both in your own homeschool records or portfolio. We cannot say whether any authority will accept them, so check your own state or local rules.

How many classes a week do homeschoolers usually take?

Families choose anywhere from 1 to 5 lessons a week, and we do not have a usual number to quote. Two a week is a good first step, three gives steady progress, four suits Tajweed or Quran with Islamic studies, and five is the pace we suggest for Hifz. One a week is not offered in every currency: see the fees table.

Can siblings be taught back to back?

Yes. Each child has their own one-to-one class and their own fee, and you can ask for the lessons to follow one another. There is no sibling discount, and low-income families can ask for 10% off.

5 more questions
Can Quran and Islamic studies be taught in the same class?

Your child can learn Quran and Islamic studies together in the same 30-minute class, or take just one subject. You choose, and the teacher shapes each lesson around your child.

How will I know my child is learning?

Every child is tested at the end of each month, and the monthly progress report is based on that test. You can also join any class live without telling us first, and watch your child’s recordings through the academy’s CRM.

Do you offer a Muslim homeschool curriculum online?

We teach the Quran and Islamic studies part of one, as set levels and books, live and one-to-one: the OQLS Qaida, Quran reading, Tajweed and Hifz, and Islamic studies in four levels with the seerah and hadith. We do not teach maths, English or science. See what your child learns.

Is it safe for my child to learn online with a teacher?

Yes, with safeguards in every lesson. A female supervisor joins every lesson live and listens throughout, parents can join any class without notice, every lesson is recorded, and teachers never contact a child outside class. See child safety.

How much does it cost, and can we try first?

Plans start at $30 a month, and five lessons a week is $59. The fee is the same for a male or female teacher and for any subject, with no registration fee. The free trial runs up to 3 days with no card, and you can ask within 5 calendar days of the first paid class for a full refund. See fees by country.
