The short answer
The easiest after-school slot for most children is 45 minutes to an hour after they get home, once they have eaten and had a short break. A 30-minute online lesson at home fits there without a school run, and you can book it at whatever time your weekday allows.
Two or three weekday lessons is a realistic start for most families. Keep the same time each day it happens, and plan around clubs and homework rather than squeezing the lesson in between them.

A real afternoon
What is the best time for a Quran lesson after school?
Not the minute they walk in. Children come home from school hungry and full of the day. Give them food and a short break first, then the lesson, and keep the hour before bed free.
In many countries the school day ends somewhere around 3 to 3:30 pm, so families often land on a lesson between about 4:15 and 6 pm. Here is how one family’s afternoon runs:
An example only. Lessons can be booked at any hour, seven days a week.
Order matters
Should the Quran lesson come before or after homework?
For most children, before. Homework tends to expand to fill the evening, and a lesson planned for “after homework” ends up at 7:30 with a tired, grumpy child.
There are exceptions. Some children need to get homework off their mind first, and some come home so drained that a later slot works better. Try one order for two weeks and watch how your child is in the lesson, not just how they feel about it beforehand.
- Keep snacks light before the lesson. A big plate of food makes children sleepy.
- Set up the laptop or tablet in the same quiet spot each time, with headphones ready.
- Have the Qaida or mushaf on the table before the lesson starts, not in a school bag.
- Siblings and the TV in another room for those 30 minutes, if you can manage it.
Busy weeks
How do we fit Quran around clubs and sport?
Book the lesson on the days your child doesn’t have a club, rather than racing between them. Because lessons are online and can run at any hour, you are not tied to the one weekday slot a local class offers.
Football on Tuesdays
Lesson on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday instead. Tuesday stays for football.
Swimming straight after school
A slot after dinner, around 6:30 pm, once your child has warmed up and eaten.
Every weekday packed
One weekday lesson plus the weekend can work. See weekend online Quran classes.
Seasonal sport changes things too. If your child’s schedule shifts with the school term, message us on WhatsApp and we agree a new time.
Two or three children
Can siblings have lessons one after the other?
Yes, and many families book them back to back, so the lesson hour is done in one go. Each child has their own 30-minute lesson with a teacher, so a 5-year-old on Qaida and a 10-year-old memorising surahs each work at their own level.

Put the younger child first. Little ones fade faster as the afternoon goes on, and an older child can do homework while they wait.

Frequency and price
How many after-school lessons a week are enough?
Two or three lessons a week suits most school-age children learning to read. Memorising surahs goes better with four or five, because short daily contact keeps new verses fresh.
| Plan | Monthly price | Suits |
|---|---|---|
| 2 lessons a week | $39 | A packed term, or a young child starting Qaida |
| 3 lessons a week | $49 | Steady reading progress around one or two clubs |
| 4 lessons a week | $55 | A keen reader, or Tajweed on top of reading |
| 5 lessons a week | $59 | Memorising surahs, one short lesson each school day |
Fewer lessons with a few minutes of practice at home often beat more lessons with none. Our guide to choosing how many classes a week goes through it by age.
Winter and summer time
What happens to the lesson time when the clocks change?
Your lesson stays at the same time on your clock. It is the teacher’s time that moves. Our teachers mostly keep Pakistan time, which has no daylight saving, so when your clocks go forward or back, the gap between you shifts by an hour on their side.
Pakistan time is UTC+5 all year. Lessons run at any hour, so a teacher teaching your afternoon in their night is normal here.
If anything does need to move when the clocks change, we confirm it with you on WhatsApp beforehand.
When an after-school lesson is the wrong choice
Some children are simply too tired on school days, especially in the first weeks of a new school year or for very young children in full-time school. If your 5-year-old is yawning through the lesson, a weekend morning may teach more in 30 minutes than three weekday afternoons.
A quiet or nervous child may also need a calmer slot than a rushed afternoon. Our page on Quran classes for shy kids covers that. For everything we teach children, from Qaida to Islamic Studies, see Islamic classes for kids.
Frequently asked questions
What after-school times are available?
Lessons can be booked at any hour, seven days a week, so you choose the slot that fits your afternoon. We confirm the exact time with you on WhatsApp.
Is 30 minutes enough after a full school day?
For most children it is the right length. They can concentrate for 30 minutes after school, and it leaves time for homework and play.
Can my child have the lesson at the same time every day?
Yes, and we recommend it. A fixed time turns the lesson into routine, which children resist far less than a slot that moves around.
What if we have a school event or a club match one week?
Tell us on WhatsApp and we agree a new time for that lesson.
Can two of my children have lessons one after the other?
Yes. Each child has their own 30-minute lesson, and many families book them back to back in the same afternoon.
Will my lesson time change when daylight saving starts or ends?
Your lesson normally stays at the same local time. Teachers keep Pakistan time, which has no daylight saving, so it is their clock that shifts by an hour.
Do I need to be at home during the lesson?
Someone should be nearby for younger children. You can sit beside them or watch the lesson live, and older children often manage alone once settled.
How much do after-school lessons cost?
Plans start at $39 a month for two lessons a week, up to $59 for five, billed in USD.
