QuranHost vs Online Quran Learnings
Checked 2026-10-27 · Updated 2026-10-27 · By Online Quran Learnings
The short answer
QuranHost is a long-running, well-reviewed academy, and it costs less than we do at two lessons a week. It teaches children one-to-one on live video, says it has taught since 2012 for families in more than 50 countries, and has a Trustpilot rating of 4.9 against our 4.8. Two lessons a week are US$37 a month there and US$39 with us. It also has things we do not: a certificate when a course is finished, an extra 10% off every sibling, and 10% off a yearly package.
What differs for a parent: from three lessons a week we cost less (US$49 against US$53 at three, US$55 against US$65 at four, US$59 against US$79 at five), and we have a plan for one lesson a week (US$30), where QuranHost starts at two. A female supervisor joins every one of our lessons, every lesson is recorded for parents to watch, parents can join any class, and every child is tested each month. QuranHost’s pages say parents are welcome to sit in and that tutors are background-checked, but do not mention a supervisor or recordings for parents. It refunds a month’s fee in full only before the billing month starts; we refund in full if you ask within 5 days of the first paid class.
Online Quran Learnings publishes this page and is one of the two academies compared, so we may benefit if you choose us. Every fact about QuranHost comes from QuranHost’s own pages (listed under Sources), read on 27 October 2026. Prices and policies change, so please check QuranHost’s site before you pay, and tell us if anything here is wrong.
Where we fit: an academy with a female supervisor in every lesson, every lesson recorded for parents, from US$30 a month and a free trial of up to 3 days with no card. See the table ↓
QuranHost and Online Quran Learnings side by side
| What we compared | QuranHost | Online Quran Learnings (us) |
|---|---|---|
| How it works | An online Quran academy with its own tutors, one-to-one on live video, for children and adults; it says it has taught since 2012 and serves families in more than 50 countries | An academy: our own teachers, one-to-one and live on Google Meet, for children from age 4 |
| Teachers and checks | Male and female; you can ask for either. Its home page says “100% Ijazah Certified Tutors”, while its kids’ page says tutors hold an Ijazah “where the course calls for it”. Its about page says tutors are screened, background-checked and verified, and its teachers page lists a recitation and Tajweed test, a subject test and a teaching demonstration. The kind of background check, and where its Quran tutors are based, are not stated | Male or female, your choice; Hifz teachers are huffaz. ID and certificates checked, an interview and a demo class we watch, then training before a first student. Mostly based in Egypt, the UAE, India and Pakistan |
| Who else is in the lesson | No supervisor described; its kids’ page says every class is private, just your child and their teacher on a live video call | A female supervisor joins every lesson live and listens to the whole class |
| Parents watching | Its kids’ page says parents are welcome to sit in; teachers’ notes after each lesson, and progress reports on every plan (detailed on four a week, daily on five a week) | Join any class live, without telling us first; a test at the end of every month, with a progress report based on it |
| Recordings | Recordings for parents: not stated. Its Hifz page mentions quality monitoring of recorded lessons, and its about page routine quality audits | Every lesson recorded on our own Google Meet; parents watch through our CRM |
| Free trial | Up to 3 free trial classes, no card, starting with a free video evaluation | Up to 3 Days Free Trial, no card |
| Lesson length | Its pricing page does not say. Its home page lists 30 minutes for Qaida, Tajweed and Arabic and 45 minutes for Hifz and Tafseer; its kids’ page says about 30 to 45 minutes | 30 minutes; 45 or 60 minutes for Hifz (US$85 and US$110 a month, five a week) |
| Two lessons a week | US$37 a month for 8 lessons on its Starter plan (US$4.63 each); no one-lesson-a-week plan | US$39 a month for 8 lessons (US$4.88 each) |
| Other fees | No registration fee; prices include materials; no contracts; a yearly package is labelled “Save 10%”, without prices | No registration fee |
| Refunds | A full month’s fee is refunded only if you ask to cancel before the billing month starts; once sessions are confirmed and a class is attended, or missed without notice, the month’s fee is not refundable | Full refund if you ask within 5 calendar days of the first paid class; after that, classes attended are deducted and the rest refunded |
| Discounts | An extra 10% off every sibling you register; 10% off the yearly package | No sibling discount (each child has their own class and fee); low-income families can ask for 10% off |
| Trustpilot rating | 4.9 | 4.8 |
QuranHost’s pricing page has buttons for pounds, Canadian dollars and Australian dollars, but only its US-dollar prices could be read on 27 October, so this page compares in US dollars. Its pricing page does not give lesson length, so its prices may not be like for like with our 30-minute lessons. Ratings only: the two Trustpilot profiles have different numbers of reviews, so open both (see Sources).

What each costs a month and a year
| Lessons | Online Quran Learnings | QuranHost |
|---|---|---|
| 1 a week (4 a month) | US$30 a month, US$360 a year | No plan listed |
| 2 a week (8 a month) | US$39 a month, US$468 a year | US$37 a month, US$444 a year |
| 3 a week (12 a month) | US$49 a month, US$588 a year | US$53 a month, US$636 a year |
| 4 a week (16 a month) | US$55 a month, US$660 a year | US$65 a month, US$780 a year |
| 5 a week (20 a month) | US$59 a month, US$708 a year | US$79 a month, US$948 a year |
Year totals are twelve months of the monthly price, our sum. QuranHost labels a yearly package “Save 10%” without showing its yearly prices, so we cannot work out what it costs. Neither charges a registration fee.
The gap: QuranHost is US$2 a month cheaper at two lessons a week (US$24 over a year, our sum). From three lessons a week we are cheaper, by US$4, US$10 and US$20 a month at three, four and five. On our plans the price per lesson falls as you add lessons, from US$7.50 for 4 lessons to US$2.95 for 20; on QuranHost it falls from US$4.63 for 8 lessons to US$3.95 for 20. QuranHost also takes an extra 10% off every sibling; we have no sibling discount (each child has their own class and fee).
Hifz: QuranHost’s home page lists Hifz at 45 minutes a session with certified huffaz, and its Hifz page sets out three levels (selected surahs or juz, the full Quran, and revision and retention). It says monthly tests or progress reports are given “where applicable”. Its pricing page does not say what its US$79 five-a-week plan covers for Hifz, so ask what 45-minute lessons cost. Our Hifz teachers are huffaz, and Hifz lessons are 30 minutes (US$59 a month, five a week), 45 minutes (US$85) or 60 minutes (US$110). See our online Hifz program.
Islamic studies: QuranHost has a separate Islamic Studies for Kids course for ages 5 to 15, one-to-one, in English and Urdu; its page does not state the lesson length or price. We teach Islamic studies too, one-to-one, on its own or with Quran in the same 30-minute class (Islamic studies for kids), but not as a certificate course.

Who teaches, and who is in the lesson with your child
QuranHost’s about page says every tutor is screened, background-checked and verified before teaching, and its teachers page lists the steps: a review of qualifications, a recitation and Tajweed assessment, a subject test, a teaching demonstration, and a check of suitability for children. It does not say what kind of background check it runs or in which country, and its UK page mentions no DBS check. It does not say where its Quran tutors are based (it says its Arabic scholars are from Egypt and the Middle East). Its pages also differ on Ijazah: the home page says every tutor holds one, the kids’ page says “where the course calls for it”.
Its kids’ page says every class is private, just your child and their teacher, and that parents are welcome to sit in. Its pages do not describe a supervisor or any other adult in the lesson, and do not say parents can watch recordings; they mention quality monitoring of recorded lessons and routine quality audits.
With us: every teacher has their ID and certificates checked, an interview and a demo class our team watches, and training before a first student. Then, in every lesson:
- A female supervisor joins every lesson live and listens from start to finish (child safety).
- Parents can join any class live, without telling us first.
- Every lesson is recorded on the academy’s own Google Meet, and parents can watch their child’s recordings through our CRM.
- Teachers never message a child outside class. Every message goes through our team to you.
- If a teacher is not the right fit, we change them. You do not need to give a reason.
Tests: Every child is tested at the end of each month, and the monthly progress report is based on that test.

Free trial and refunds
- Trial: QuranHost offers up to 3 free trial classes with no card, and starts with a free video evaluation before you are matched with a tutor. We offer up to 3 days of real lessons free, with no card.
- Refunds: QuranHost’s refund policy offers a full month’s fee back only if you ask to cancel before the billing month starts (its page words the deadline in more than one way). Once sessions are confirmed and a class is attended, or missed without notice, the month’s fee is not refundable; a make-up class is guaranteed when the academy causes a missed class, and none is given for absences without notice or on public holidays. We refund in full if you ask within 5 calendar days of the first paid class, and after that we deduct the classes attended and refund the rest (refund policy).
- Contracts and billing: QuranHost says there are no contracts and you can cancel anytime; monthly fees are paid in advance at the start of each billing cycle.

Which suits your family
QuranHost may suit you if you want the lowest price at two lessons a week (US$37 a month), a certificate when your child finishes a course, three published Hifz levels, a separate Islamic Studies for Kids course (ages 5 to 15), an extra 10% off each sibling, or an academy with a long record and a 4.9 Trustpilot rating. It also fits a family that is happy to sit in on lessons themselves and does not need a supervisor in the class or recordings.
We may suit you if you want a supervisor in every lesson and a recording you can watch afterwards, one fixed teacher your child keeps, and a price that drops per lesson as you add classes: from US$30 a month for one lesson a week to US$59 for five. Families in the UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and the UAE pay in their own currency (fees).
Both offer a free trial with no card, so the fairest test is to book both, sit in on the lessons and see which teacher your child listens to. Our questions to ask in a free trial help you compare like for like, and more options are side by side in our best online Quran academies for kids in the USA and UK guides.
