Qutor vs Online Quran Learnings

Checked 2026-10-26 · Updated 2026-10-26 · By Online Quran Learnings

The short answer

Qutor is a marketplace; we are an academy. On Qutor you browse independent tutors, pick one and pay by the hour through Qutor’s classroom. Its terms say the tutor, not Qutor, is responsible for the teaching, and that Qutor assumes no responsibility for verifying tutors’ identity or qualifications. With us, our own teachers are checked before they teach, and a female supervisor joins every lesson.

On cost: at the tutor rates Qutor listed (US$7 to US$12 an hour), two half-hour lessons a week come to about US$33.60 to US$57.60 a month once Qutor’s fee is added, against US$39 with us. At one lesson a week every tutor on that page costs less than our plan; at two a week, tutors at US$8 an hour or less do; at three or more a week, every one of them costs more.

Online Quran Learnings publishes this page and is one of the two academies compared, so we may benefit if you choose us. Every fact about Qutor comes from Qutor’s own pages (listed under Sources), read on 26 October 2026. Prices and policies change, so please check Qutor’s site before you pay, and tell us if anything here is wrong.

Where we fit: an academy with a female supervisor in every lesson, every lesson recorded for parents, from US$30 a month and a free trial of up to 3 days with no card. See the table ↓

Who checks the teacher, and who is in the lesson

This is the biggest difference. Qutor’s FAQ calls it a freelancing site where tutors create their own profiles, and its terms say only the tutor, not Qutor, is responsible for the teaching, that Qutor assumes no responsibility for verifying users’ identity or qualifications, and that it does not try to verify tutors’ statements. Parents judge tutors by their profiles, ratings and reviews, and can watch random clips of the lesson afterwards.

Qutor’s terms also say users under 18 cannot register, while also allowing use with a parent’s consent, so a parent should open the account and stay in charge of it.

With us: every teacher has their ID and certificates checked, an interview and a demo class our team watches, and training before a first student. Then, in every lesson:

  • A female supervisor joins every lesson live and listens from start to finish (child safety).
  • Parents can join any class live, without telling us first.
  • Every lesson is recorded on the academy’s own Google Meet, and parents can watch their child’s recordings through our CRM.
  • Teachers never message a child outside class. Every message goes through our team to you.
  • If a teacher is not the right fit, we change them. You do not need to give a reason.

What a month and a year cost

One child, 30-minute lessons, US dollars

1 a week (4 a month)US$30 a month, US$360 a yearabout US$16.80 to US$28.80 a month, US$202 to US$346 a year
2 a week (8 a month)US$39 a month, US$468 a yearabout US$33.60 to US$57.60 a month, US$403 to US$691 a year
3 a week (12 a month)US$49 a month, US$588 a yearabout US$50.40 to US$86.40 a month, US$605 to US$1,037 a year
5 a week (20 a month)US$59 a month, US$708 a yearabout US$84.00 to US$144.00 a month, US$1,008 to US$1,728 a year

Qutor rows are our sums: the tutor’s hourly rate plus Qutor’s fee (20% of the rate, or US$1 an hour if that is more), for half-hour lessons. US$7 and US$12 were the lowest and highest rates on Qutor’s “hire Quran tutors” page on 26 October 2026; other tutors charge other rates. Qutor bills through monthly credit plans that renew each month.

On our plans the price per lesson falls as you add lessons, from US$30 for 4 lessons to US$59 for 20. On Qutor every lesson costs the same hourly rate however many you book, so the more lessons a week you book, the better our price compares.

Which suits your family

Qutor may suit you if you are happy to choose, check and manage a tutor yourself, you want a tutor who teaches in a particular language (its listings include Arabic, Urdu, Bengali, Hindi and German as well as English), or you want lessons longer or shorter than 30 minutes.

We may suit you if you want a supervisor in every lesson and a recording you can watch afterwards, one fixed teacher your child keeps, and a price that drops per lesson as you add classes: from US$30 a month for one lesson a week to US$59 for five. Families in the UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and the UAE pay in their own currency (fees).

Whichever you choose, ask who has checked the teacher, who else is in the lesson, and whether you can watch. Our guide to choosing an online Quran teacher has the full list.

Is Qutor cheaper than Online Quran Learnings?

It depends on the tutor. At the rates Qutor listed (US$7 to US$12 an hour), two half-hour lessons a week cost about US$33.60 to US$57.60 a month with Qutor’s fee, against US$39 with us. At one lesson a week every tutor listed costs less than our plan; at three or more a week, every tutor listed costs more.

Does Qutor check its Quran tutors?

Qutor calls its tutors “hand-picked”, but its terms say it assumes no responsibility for verifying users’ identity or qualifications and does not try to verify tutors’ statements. Parents choose using profiles, ratings and reviews.

Is Qutor safe for children?

Qutor offers “Parental Watch”, random 30-second clips from every 10 minutes of class, and optional recording. No supervisor joins the lesson, and its terms put the teaching in the tutor’s hands. A parent should open the account, choose the tutor and watch the clips.

Can I get a refund on Qutor?

Its terms say payments are non-refundable except as the terms provide, refunds are at Qutor’s sole discretion, and unused credits expire after a year. We refund in full if you ask within 5 calendar days of the first paid class.

Which is better for a young child, a marketplace tutor or an academy?

For a child of 4 to 8, most parents want someone else checking the teacher and the lesson. An academy that checks teachers and puts a supervisor in the class does that for you; on a marketplace you do it yourself.
