Riwaq Al Quran vs Online Quran Learnings
Checked 2026-10-27 · Updated 2026-10-27 · By Online Quran Learnings
The short answer
Both are academies with their own teachers, and at two lessons a week the prices are close. Riwaq Al Quran says its teachers are certified by Al-Azhar, charges by the hour (US$10 an hour, so US$5 for a 30-minute lesson) and asks for at least two lessons a week. Two half-hour lessons a week come to US$40 a month there and US$39 with us.
The differences that change a parent’s decision: because Riwaq charges by the hour, its price climbs with every lesson you add (about US$100 a month for five half-hour lessons a week, our sum, against US$59 with us), and it has no plan for one lesson a week. Its pages do not say whether anyone else sits in the lesson or whether parents can watch live. A female supervisor joins every one of our lessons, and parents can watch the recordings. Riwaq gives a free first class with no card, runs kids’ Islamic studies courses of 20, 24 and 30 weeks, says students who complete a course earn a certificate recognised by Riwaq, and says its Hifz tutors hold ijazah.
Online Quran Learnings publishes this page and is one of the two academies compared, so we may benefit if you choose us. Every fact about Riwaq Al Quran comes from Riwaq Al Quran’s own pages (listed under Sources), read on 27 October 2026. Prices and policies change, so please check Riwaq Al Quran’s site before you pay, and tell us if anything here is wrong.
Where we fit: a female supervisor in every lesson, every lesson recorded for parents, from US$30 a month and a free trial of up to 3 days with no card. See the table ↓

What each costs a month and a year
| Lessons | Online Quran Learnings | Riwaq Al Quran at US$10 an hour |
|---|---|---|
| 1 a week (4 a month) | US$30 a month, US$360 a year | Not offered: it asks for at least 2 lessons a week |
| 2 a week (8 a month) | US$39 a month, US$468 a year | US$40 a month, US$480 a year |
| 3 a week (12 a month) | US$49 a month, US$588 a year | About US$60 a month, US$720 a year |
| 4 a week (16 a month) | US$55 a month, US$660 a year | About US$80 a month, US$960 a year |
| 5 a week (20 a month) | US$59 a month, US$708 a year | About US$100 a month, US$1,200 a year |
Riwaq prices by the hour, so the 3, 4 and 5 a week rows are our sums at its US$10 an hour rate for half-hour lessons; it does not publish those plans. The 2 a week figure matches the price table on its kids’ Islamic studies page. That page also shows a different starting price in its banner, and its pricing page lists US$11 an hour for kids’ Islamic studies and US$12 for advanced courses, so ask for a quote for your child’s course. Year totals are twelve months of the monthly price, our sum. Riwaq takes 4% off a 3-month subscription and 7% off a 6-month one, which would lower its figures a little. Neither academy charges a registration fee.
On our plans the price per lesson falls as you add lessons, from US$30 for 4 lessons to US$59 for 20. At Riwaq the price follows the hourly rate, so every half-hour lesson costs the same however many you book, and the more lessons a week you book, the better our price compares. At two a week, Riwaq’s 45- and 60-minute lessons are also on its kids’ Islamic studies price table (US$64 and US$88 a month for 8 lessons); our 45- and 60-minute lessons are for Hifz only.

Who teaches, and who is in the lesson with your child
Riwaq says its founders and teachers are certified by Al-Azhar University, and its pages for children describe Egyptian, Azhari tutors. It says its Hifz tutors hold ijazah; that statement is on a Hifz page labelled for adults, and a separate page on Hifz for children says its Hifz teachers are certified huffaz. For parents who want that Al-Azhar background, this is a real strength. It tells you about the teacher’s training; it does not tell you who else is in the lesson, and Riwaq does not describe background checks, an interview or a demo class for teachers.
Riwaq’s pricing page lists academically supervised programs and recorded sessions for review, with per-class and quarterly progress reports. It does not say whether a supervisor or any other adult sits in the lesson, whether parents can watch live, or who can see the recordings. Ask in the free class.
With us: every teacher has their ID and certificates checked, an interview and a demo class our team watches, and training before a first student. Then, in every lesson:
- A female supervisor joins every lesson live and listens from start to finish (child safety).
- Parents can join any class live, without telling us first.
- Every lesson is recorded on the academy’s own Google Meet, and parents can watch their child’s recordings through our CRM.
- Teachers never message a child outside class. Every message goes through our team to you.
- If a teacher is not the right fit, we change them. You do not need to give a reason.
Tests: Every child is tested at the end of each month, and the monthly progress report is based on that test.

Free trial and refunds
- Trial: Riwaq gives a free first class, a full live class with your matched teacher, with no card. One FAQ line mentions two trial classes, so ask how many you get. We offer up to 3 days of real lessons free, with no card.
- Refunds: Riwaq’s FAQ promises a 100% money-back guarantee if you are not satisfied and lists no conditions, and its terms separately give a 14-day right to withdraw. The two are worded differently, so ask Riwaq which applies to a lesson plan; it has no separate refund page. We refund in full if you ask within 5 calendar days of the first paid class, and after that we deduct the classes attended and refund the rest (refund policy).
- Longer plans: Riwaq discounts 3- and 6-month subscriptions. If you prepay, ask what happens if you stop early. Our plans are monthly.

Which suits your family
Riwaq Al Quran may suit you if you want teachers certified by Al-Azhar, you want a set Islamic studies course for your child with levels of 20, 24 and 30 weeks and a completion certificate (its home page promises one for students who finish a course; it is Riwaq’s own certificate, and Riwaq does not claim outside accreditation), you want the choice of 45- or 60-minute lessons (ours are for Hifz only), or you want a free first class and a money-back promise. It also fits a family booking exactly two lessons a week, where its price table is close to ours.
We may suit you if you want a supervisor in every lesson and a recording you can watch afterwards, one fixed teacher your child keeps, and a price that drops per lesson as you add classes: from US$30 a month for one lesson a week to US$59 for five. Families in the UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and the UAE pay in their own currency (fees).
We teach Islamic studies one-to-one too, on its own or with Quran (online Islamic school), but we issue no certificates; every child gets a monthly test and report instead.
Whichever you choose, ask who has checked the teacher, who else is in the lesson, and whether you can watch. Our questions to ask in a free trial help you compare like for like, and more academies are side by side in our best online Quran academies for kids guide.
